2017 Billfish Classic - Rules Uploaded

The 2017 Billfish Classic rules have been uploaded and are Available to view here!


Dates for the 2017 NT Billfish Classic are 29 - 31 October with Billfish base being the Darwin Trailer Boat Club.

Teams accrue points based on the species tagged and the Champion Team is the team with the most accumulated points at the end of the three days and receives a significant cash prize.


Expressions of interest for the 2017 XXXX Gold NT Barramundi Classic are now being called for.

The 2016 Frenchy's Marine junior clinic and fun day was run on the Daly River Sunday 15 May with 58 juniors taking part. Our juniors caught, tagged and released 23 Barramundi!

Everyone had a great day by all accounts and we can't wait to see even more juniors next year! Stay tuned to the Darwin Game Fishing Club Facebook page for more photos.

Teams interested in competing in the Shady Lady Classic for 2016 are encouraged to submit their expressions of interest as soon as possible.

Submitted EOIs will be reviewed and approved by the DGFC committee.


Expressions of interest should be lodged no later than Friday 22 April 2016 with formal invitations being sent out by the end of April.

2016 NT Barramundi Classic Expression of Interest

Expressions of interest for the 2016 XXXX Gold NT Barra Classic are now being called for.

2016 represents the 35th year of the tournament and will be held once again on the Daly River from the 15-21 of May 2016.

Teams interested in competing in Australia's Premier Barramundi fishing tournament are encouraged to download the below Expression of Interest form below and submit if for review/approval by the committee.

Expressions of interest should be lodged no later than 17 July 2015 to be accepted for consideration by the committee.

2014 XXXX Gold Billfish Classic rules and boundaries

Calling all Billfish fanatics!

The DGFC are proud to present the 2014 XXXX Gold Billfish Classic rules and Boundary map in the links below.

For all you competitors out there it is importnat theat you download and review the rules ASAP and prior to attending the briefing night.  The briefing night will be held on Thursday 30 October at the Darwin Trailer Boat Club, commencing at 6:00pm sharp.

The DGFC committe received the following notification from the Northern Territory Game Fishing Association (NTGFA) and were requested to pass the detail onto our club members.

If you have an EPIRB that was purhased between 01.01.2005 and 29.02.2008 please click the link below to check if your EPIRB fits the recall criteria.

The website provides information on what to do if your EPIRB falls within the dates and criteria identified.

Attention all Billfish anglers - Final Black Marlin Bulletin issued for review

Attached is a copy of the final black marlin bulletin associated with the genetic research recently undertaken by the Universty of Queensland.

This final edition overviews the major research findings from the project and answers the questions such as; where do the small black marlin in the Gulf of Carpentaria most likely come from? How many black marlin stocks are there in the central indo-pacific? What information supports spawning grounds for black marlin and where?
